CID group reflection on Broken Telephone activity (19/1/15)
This activity involves good communication skills with others in order to understand one another so that the correct instruction or message is passed on to the next person. This activity also showed us that if we pass on a part or just one word of the message wrongly, the result can turn out completely different from the original message. Thus it shows that we have to listen attentively to what the person is telling us to avoid any mistakes or unwanted results. Having good communication is not as easy as it seems as it is much easier to misunderstand someone's words depending on how that person phrases his message. Communication is also essential for group work or activities. Different use of words can actually change the understanding of your message to others. Thus, we should articulate our words properly to reduce confusion and also be specific with our word usage. Communicating with people of the opposite gender can also help us understand their way as speech. The game also showed us that lack and unclear communication can result in misconception as while different people are saying the same thing, they might be picturing different things in their mind. If one person in a group makes a mistake, the result will be wrong.
